Arlington Home Cleaning Service Terms
Arlington Home Cleaning provides professional residential cleaning services and takes reasonable care while performing each service. By booking an appointment, the client agrees to the following additional terms that govern our service, liability, claims process, and client responsibilities. These terms form part of the agreement between the client and Arlington Home Cleaning.
I. Client Responsibilities and Liability Limitations
-
Pre-Existing Conditions & Wear and Tear: Arlington Home Cleaning is not responsible for pre-existing damage, defects, loose fixtures, worn surfaces, broken items, or malfunctioning appliances. Normal wear, deterioration (e.g., paint wear, grout issues), or deterioration that becomes visible during normal cleaning are considered normal conditions and are not our responsibility.
-
Sensitive and Specialty Surfaces: Clients are responsible for informing Arlington Home Cleaning in advance of any specialty surfaces (e.g., marble, antique furniture) or items that require special handling. We are not responsible for damage to materials or finishes sensitive to standard cleaning products unless the client provides written instructions before the appointment.
-
Securing Valuables and Fragile Items: Clients agree to secure jewelry, cash, medications, personal valuables, and sentimental items before the appointment. Clients must clear open shelving and accessible surfaces of all fragile or valuable items. Arlington Home Cleaning is not responsible for items that fall, break, or are misplaced when left unsecured, crowded, or accessible during service.
-
Heavy Items and Appliance Movement: Cleaners are not required to move heavy furniture or appliances. If cleaning is requested behind or under major appliances, the client must move them before the appointment.
-
Client Provided Products: If the client requests specific products or supplies be used, the client assumes all responsibility for damage or reactions that result from those products.
-
Pets, Allergies, and Sensitivities: Clients must secure pets during the cleaning. If the client or anyone on the property has allergies or sensitivities to standard cleaning products, the client must notify us in writing in advance. We are not responsible for pet issues or allergic reactions.
-
Items Left in Storage: We are not responsible for items left in boxes, piles, storage areas, bags, or other containers and are not responsible for the organization or relocation of personal belongings.
-
Third-Party and Appliance Failure: We are not responsible for damages caused by third parties (contractors, guests) or for mechanical or electrical failure of appliances, fixtures, or equipment that may occur during or after cleaning.
-
No Guarantee of Stain Removal: Certain stains, discoloration, and buildup may not be removable. Arlington Home Cleaning does not guarantee complete removal of stains or long-standing buildup.
II. Claims, Damages, and Limitations
-
Claims and Photo Evidence: All concerns must be submitted through the official Arlington Home Cleaning Claim Form within twenty-four hours of the appointment and must include photos of the area or item. Claims submitted after twenty-four hours are not eligible for review.
-
Walkthrough and Claim Review: Client approval of the home’s condition after a completed walkthrough will be considered during the claims review. All submitted claims require three to five business days to review. Possible outcomes include a re-clean, a credit, a partial refund, or a claim denial.
-
Inspection Requirement (Consolidated): Arlington Home Cleaning reserves the right to inspect any claimed damage before accepting responsibility or approving repairs or compensation. Claims that do not permit inspection cannot be approved. Repairs completed prior to our inspection cannot be compensated.
-
Damage Limitation: For any approved claim, Arlington Home Cleaning reserves the right to repair, replace, provide a credit, or compensate up to the cost of the original service or one hundred dollars ($100), whichever is less.
-
Criminal or Theft Claims: If the client believes theft or criminal activity has occurred, the client must notify Arlington Home Cleaning within twenty-four hours and file a police report. Claims without a police report cannot be processed.
III. Service Conditions and Refusal of Tasks
-
Unsafe/Hazardous Conditions: We reserve the right to refuse service or leave a property that presents unsafe, extremely unsanitary, or hazardous conditions. This includes mold, hazardous materials, biological waste, or chemicals. If cleaning cannot be completed due to safety concerns, the client remains responsible for time or travel costs already incurred.
-
Right to Decline Unsafe Tasks: We may decline any task that could cause damage or poses risk, including using client provided products, cleaning sensitive surfaces, or handling items that should be professionally serviced.
-
Hidden Damage: We are not responsible for hidden damage, water leaks, plumbing issues, loose attachments, or structural deterioration that becomes visible during cleaning.
IV. Scheduling and Pricing
-
Access and Lockouts (Consolidated): The client must provide access to the property during the scheduled arrival window. If cleaners arrive but cannot access the property within fifteen minutes, the appointment may be cancelled and cancellation fees may apply.
-
Cancellations: Cancellations with less than twenty-four hours notice may be subject to cancellation fees.
-
Pricing Adjustments: Pricing is based on the estimated time and condition. Pricing may be adjusted for:
-
Condition requiring additional time/effort.
-
Significant worsening of condition for recurring clients.
-
Holidays or high-demand periods (with client notification).
-
V. Entry Consent and Documentation
-
Entry Consent (Consolidated): By booking, the client grants Arlington Home Cleaning and its assigned cleaners permission to enter and remain inside the property during the scheduled appointment window for cleaning, supplies, breaks, and quality checks. This entry/exit is authorized and is not grounds for legal claims, trespassing, or unauthorized access complaints. The client is not required to be present during the appointment.
-
Authority to Photograph: By booking, the client grants permission to take before and after photographs or videos for documentation and quality control.
VI. Dispute Resolution and Non-Solicitation
-
Dispute Resolution: Any dispute must first be submitted in writing for good faith resolution. If unsuccessful, both parties agree to participate in mediation in Arlington County, Virginia.
-
Binding Arbitration: If mediation fails, the exclusive method of resolving any claim shall be binding arbitration conducted in Arlington County, Virginia. Both parties waive the right to trial by jury.
-
Public Reviews During Claims: If a claim is active, the client is asked to allow the claim review process to be completed before posting public reviews.
-
Non-Solicitation: Clients agree not to offer direct employment or side work to Arlington Home Cleaning cleaners for a period of two years. A referral fee of five hundred dollars ($500) may apply for violations.
