Recurring cleaning plans are set up around your home as it exists on day one — the number of bedrooms, bathrooms, and living spaces you actually need cleaned on a regular basis. But homes change. A spare bedroom becomes a home office, a guest room goes unused for a year, a finished basement gets added to the rotation. When that happens, your recurring plan should change with it.

Why Room Count Matters for Your Plan

Pricing and time on-site are both tied to the size and layout of what’s being cleaned. If a room drops out of regular use — say, a guest room that’s now just storage — there’s no reason to keep paying to have it cleaned every visit. On the flip side, if you’ve finished a basement, converted a garage into a livable space, or simply started using a room you didn’t before, that space should be reflected in your plan and quote too.

How to Request a Change

Adjusting your recurring plan doesn’t require canceling and restarting. The simplest path is to reach out before your next visit and tell us what’s changed:

From there we’ll adjust your quote to reflect the new scope. Adding a room typically means a small increase to your recurring price and visit time; removing one works the other direction.

Temporary vs. Permanent Changes

Not every room change is permanent, and that’s fine. If you have a room that only needs attention occasionally — a nursery that’s freshly set up, a home office that gets a deeper clean before a big work trip, a guest suite ahead of family visiting — you can ask for that room to be included as a one-time add-on for a specific visit rather than changing your ongoing plan. That keeps your regular recurring price stable while still covering the space when you actually need it.

Your Recurring Discount Still Applies

One thing that doesn’t change when you add or remove a room: your recurring discount tier. Whether you’re on a weekly (15% off), biweekly (10% off), or monthly (5% off) schedule, that discount is based on your visit frequency, not your square footage. Adjusting the rooms in your plan changes the base price the discount is calculated against, but it doesn’t reset or affect the discount itself. You can read more about how those tiers work in How Recurring Cleaning Discounts Work.

When to Reconsider Frequency, Not Just Rooms

Sometimes what feels like a room problem is really a frequency problem. If you’ve added a room and now feel like your biweekly visit isn’t keeping up, or you’ve removed rooms and a weekly visit feels like overkill, it might be worth stepping back and looking at your overall schedule rather than just the room list. We put together a broader guide on that in How to Choose the Right Cleaning Frequency for Your Household.

Standard Minimums Still Apply

One thing worth keeping in mind: our standard cleaning has a $150 minimum, so removing rooms from a very small plan won’t necessarily lower your price below that floor. Deep cleans and move-in/move-out cleans have their own minimums as well ($250 and $300 respectively), which stay in place regardless of room count adjustments.
