Many Arlington homes have a business in part of the house. Examples: a basement daycare, a counseling room in a spare bedroom, a small studio in the garage. The house size stays the same, but more people visit, so cleaning needs to cover more.

Why a Home-Based Business Changes the Equation

A purely residential home gets dirty from the people who live there. A home with a business gets dirty from clients, students, and kids who visit too. More people walking in means more dirt tracked in. More hands touch doors and railings. Floors in the business rooms wear out faster. The cleaning plan needs to account for two different traffic patterns under one roof.

What We Look At During a Walkthrough

Before setting a cleaning schedule for a home business, separate the space into zones. The client-facing area includes waiting area, playroom, treatment room, or studio. The rest is the home. The client-facing zone needs more frequent cleaning. Visitors see and touch floors, entry areas, door handles, and light switches. The rest of the home can stay on a standard schedule.

In-Home Daycares Specifically

Daycare spaces collect dirt differently. Toys on the floor, nap mats, low tables, and cubbies get dusty in unique ways. We focus on general cleaning: wiping surfaces, vacuuming and mopping floors, dusting shelving and toy storage. If your daycare is licensed by the state, you need to follow its sanitizing and disinfection rules. Our visits are general home cleaning, not the type of disinfection your license requires. You need to handle your own sanitizing for areas and tasks the state requires. This includes diaper areas, food prep surfaces, and toy sanitizing between groups. These are separate from what we handle.

Scheduling Around Business Hours

Most home-based businesses don’t want a cleaning crew walking through mid-session. We can schedule visits before opening, after closing, or on closed days. This keeps cleaning from interrupting clients or kids. If your hours change with the seasons, let us know. Maybe more daycare in September or fewer sessions around holidays. We can adjust when we visit.

What This Falls Under

A home daycare or small home business usually gets a standard cleaning on a recurring schedule. Sometimes we do a deeper clean for the higher-traffic rooms. Standard cleaning starts at $135+ for a studio, and costs more for larger homes. Recurring visits get a discount: 15% off weekly, 10% off biweekly, 5% off monthly. If your space looks more like a small office than a home room, our office cleaning service may fit better. It’s designed for commercial-style traffic, not residential. We’ve also written about retail and small storefronts in Arlington. It covers the same topics for business owners thinking about their options.
