The cabinet face is a high-touch area if people grab it. We wipe those spots during a normal visit. Dusting the whole cabinet face is an extra request.
What’s Different When It’s Down
If a Murphy bed is left down, the floor around it gets vacuumed and mopped. This happens whether a guest is staying or not. Dusting, fixing the sheets, and caring for the mattress are not part of a normal visit. Tell us when you book if you want these things done. We usually don’t fold the bed up or down unless you ask us to and show us how. Every brand works differently, and some have special locks or buttons that are easy to mess up.
Convertible Guest Spaces More Broadly
A convertible space is not always a Murphy bed. It might be a daybed with a trundle. Or a couch in a den. Or an office with an air mattress stored in the closet for guests. In all cases, the room gets cleaned based on how you use it every day. The sleeping part is left alone unless you ask. A couch is treated as a couch during a normal visit. The floor around it gets vacuumed and mopped whether it’s pulled out or not.
Storage Around Convertible Furniture
Murphy bed units often come with shelves, cabinets, or a fold-down desk. These are all part of the same wall unit. The outside of the shelves and cabinets can be an extra request, since they are not part of a normal visit. If the unit holds many small decorative items or books, we leave them where they are. We don’t move or pack them up.
Getting Ready for a Visit
- Decide in advance whether you want the Murphy bed left up or down, and let your cleaning team know your preference or leave the room in the state you’d like it cleaned.
- If you want the bed folded or unfolded as part of a visit, walk the team through the mechanism the first time so it’s done safely and consistently going forward.
- For sleeper sofas and other convertible furniture, note whether it should be cleaned as regular seating or left pulled out.
