Home offices look different now than before. Why Standing Desks Collect Dust Differently
A standing desk shows more parts than a regular desk. You can see the frame, the motor, the wire paths, and the bottom of the top. Dust sits on the edge where the top meets the frame. It builds up in the cracks of the moving legs. When you move the desk, the dust flies into the air.
Wiping the frame or bottom edge of the desk is not part of our standard service. Ask about it when you book. We will let you know if we can fit it in. It is a regular task, we just need to know the desk is there.
Anti-Fatigue Mats and Floor Mats
Standing mats hold dirt against the floor. People stand in the same spot for hours. Dirt and skin cells build up at the mat edges. Vacuuming once might miss this. Lifting the mat to vacuum under it is easy. Ask for this if the mat has stayed in one spot for a long time.
Monitor Arms, Cable Management, and Electronics
Monitor arms, keyboard trays, and cable trays make more tight spaces than a flat desk. Dust sits on the arms and in the spots where the clamp holds them to the desk. Electronics are different. Screens, keyboards, and things that plug in are not on our standard list. Tell us what you want left alone. We don’t want to guess. If you have a lot of wires and cables, tell us when you book. The team will know not to move them.
Treadmill Desks and Balance Equipment
If your standing desk sits over a treadmill base or you keep a balance board near it, tell your cleaning team. Exercise gear has rules from the maker about what cleaning stuff is safe. A cleaner might not know it is there and use the wrong stuff. Tell us when you book. Then we will check first.
What to Do Before Your Visit
- Clear loose papers, notebooks, and small office supplies off the desktop so the surface can actually be wiped.
- Lower the desk to sitting height if you want the top surface to be easy to reach without a step stool.
- Note any equipment with special care instructions, like a treadmill belt, in your booking notes or by leaving a sticky note on the item itself.
- Save cable reorganization for yourself; we would rather not unplug or rearrange your equipment.
Where This Fits Into a Regular Visit
A standard cleaning in Arlington and Ashburn wipes places you touch, cleans appliance outsides, vacuums and mops floors, and empties trash (one bag). Tell us about home office extras when you book. If your room has not been cleaned in a long time, a deep cleaning adds the inside of the oven, fridge, and microwave. It is a good choice before you start regular visits. If you clean every week, every other week, or once a month, you pay less. Weekly costs 15% less. Every other week costs 10% less. Once a month costs 5% less. This can remove a chore from your list.
